A Trip To A Display Of Realistic Baby Dolls And Board Games Together With My Wife And Kids
I took my wife and son on a family outing today to a museum of childhood and games. My better half likes dolls, particularly about realistic baby dolls, as she has been a collector for years. She told me that there was going to be an exhibition of realistic baby dolls at this museum, so we thought we might go see it.
As soon as we arrived, we soon realised that this was a very huge exhibition into the lifes and cultures of children during the last one hundred fifty years or more. There was one specific exhibit that made me realise how difficult a life youngsters had back in the late 1800's.
The display was displaying to you the hard circumstances they'd in their work as well as the hours they had to work.
One of the instances was chimney cleaning. Youngsters as old as 6 years of age was cleaning the chimneys, with no security equipment and was exposed to obvious lung problems. Accidents and tragedy was frequent its sad to say. The times were lengthy too, with youngsters working so long as thirteen hours a day in factories with just one short break. How the quality of life has changed within the hundred or so years for the worlds children.
Further into the display, there was a huge array of toys from the previous, right up to the present. Some of these toys jogged my memory of my childhood, as one or two of the items on show I recall owning, and starting from toy trains and tricycles, right up to a number of the common branded board games we still enjoy today.
It was not only a good day out for the entire family. My wife got to see her realistic baby dolls, and a large number of dolls there was. This trip was certainly an enjoyable trip and more essentially, a reminder that life was not as easy for youngsters as it could have been back in these difficult exhausting, lengthy working days 100 or so years ago.
